My work with Thriving Roots Wilderness School (TRWS) was truly transformational the 2021/2022 school year. It reawakened something within me; something ancient, primal.This created a stunning contrast to substitute teaching in the Greater Victoria School District (May 2021- June 2022).

 

I dove in head first with their adult weekend program, Wild & Alive, while apprenticing for Little Leaves (ages 5-7), WOLF Kids (ages 8-14) and Wild Within teen expedition weekends. Within a couple months I was hired as a Friday Little Leaves forest mentor.!At the same time I was working with the amazing director-- Alaina Hallett-- to discuss curricular intrgration, and how to BRIDGE the regular academic world with an 8 Shields model.

This journey continues with my 2022/2023 position with Island Discovery!
