Miss Pickel's Educational Adventures

Hi there! I am Ms. Zoey Pickel- a world traveler and teacher from Canada! My teaching philosophy is that learning is a very reciprocal experience; you learn just as much from your students as they do from you! I am also passionate about place and nature-based education so that students may learn from their environment. I just graduated from my Bachelor of Elementary Education at the University of Victoria, and cannot wait to deepen my teaching skills.

Traveling is my passion...

Before returning to school as a mature student, I traveled and volunteered around the world for six years. My adventures took me abroad to SE Asia, Central Asia, Morocco, and Western Europe where I bonded with locals, immersed myself in unique cultures, and was involved in various philanthropic projects of my own. Here in Canada, I involve myself in as many new pedagogical opportunities as possible- from working as a math tutor to my 6 year old neighbour to volunteering at a center for immigrants and refugees. As soon as I graduate I hope to return overseas to continue my journey!
